Our Method

A catalogue recorded product by product

Every coffee table listed on this site has been recorded one by one: its price, its dimensions, its colour, its brand and its availability. Nothing is copied from a competing site, nothing is lifted from a retailer's listing. It's slow, and it's what makes everything else possible.

We check that it really is a coffee table

A big retailer's "coffee table" section doesn't only contain coffee tables. You'll also find side tables, sofa-end tables, bedside tables, pedestal tables — and, on occasion, a pair of hinges listed under that name.

So we run an explicit test on every product before citing it: its title must name a coffee table, its largest dimension must exceed 55 cm, and it must not be sold as a different piece of furniture. Anything that fails this test appears nowhere on the site, even if the retailer filed it under the right category.

No price or dimension typed by hand

The prices and measurements shown come straight from the catalogue, never from manual entry. A price typed by hand into a sentence stays wrong forever: nobody goes back to fix every article when the price changes. Ours follow the listing.

An automatic check refuses to publish any page where a figure can't be traced back to either the catalogue or a stated source.

Every measurement-based tip has a source and a date

The layout rules we cite — the gap to leave between the sofa and the table, the height not to exceed, the two-thirds rule — don't come out of thin air. Each one is tied to a published source, with its address and the date we recorded it.

When two sources disagree, we keep the measurable facts separate rather than the convenient rule that links them, and we say so.

What we refuse to write

We don't have the furniture in hand. So this site never claims to have tried a product, never ranks anything by sales popularity or average customer reviews, and never cites a bestseller list. These phrasings are blocked automatically before publication.

In the same way, we don't claim professional experience we don't have. We're a small team who enjoys interior design and builds guides from measurements. That's it, and it's already a lot of work.

What we don't know, we say so

When a dimension is missing from a listing, we don't guess it: we simply don't mention it. That's why one model can appear without a comparison label while its neighbours have one. No measurement, no claim.
