Three MSFE tables, three fairly distinct uses behind a shared, confidently modern style across the range. The first uses a round tempered-glass top, suited to a compact living room where visual lightness matters more than anything else around it. The second imitates a travertine effect for a more mineral, textured look, closer to natural stone than a classic wood or clear glass top. The third rises to serve as both a dining table and an occasional desk, thanks to a gas-strut mechanism that makes the manoeuvre effortless day to day. The shared ground stops at the modern style all three references share; the materials, the format and the level of storage change noticeably from one model to the next depending on the intended use. Here are all three tables detailed one by one, with real figures rather than relying on the product photo alone. For more brands with that same confidently modern streak, browse our brand directory.
Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder
60 x 60 x 40 cm · Brown
This round MSFE coffee table measures 60 cm in diameter, 40 cm in height, with a thick tempered-glass top with smooth edges set on a mid-century-style wooden frame, in a Brown finish. This thick, wear-resistant top makes the most of the room's visual space. But its round, compact shape suits a reading corner better than a large three-seater sofa.
This MSFE table in a travertine finish measures 120 cm in length, 50 cm in width, 40 cm in height, on a rectangular wooden frame, in a Beige finish. Its spacious, functional top, made from durable MDF, offers good stability. However, it remains less forgiving than solid wood against repeated front-on knocks.
100 cm x 44.6 cm x 61.5 cm · Colour Black and Wood
This lift-top, bidirectional MSFE coffee table measures 100 cm in length, 61.5 cm in width, for 44.6 cm in height in the low position, in a Colour Black and Wood finish. Its lift-top, fitted with a hidden compartment and a storage shelf, is operated by an improved gas strut. But as with any moving top, it's best cleared before raising to avoid spilling anything onto the floor.
Three materials, three very different living-room moods
The thick tempered-glass top with smooth edges on Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder disappears visually in a small room, the travertine effect on MSFE Table Basse en Travertin adds a mineral, textured touch, and the wooden lift-top on MSFE Table Basse Relevable remains the most versatile of the three. Three materials set three different living-room moods, and comparing tables in wood or in glass is the simplest way to pick one. The choice mainly depends on the style you already have. Mood follows material, and a metal frame keeps things industrial, as our metal coffee table with drawers page illustrates with closed storage.
The tempered glass on Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder needs the most frequent upkeep: a dry microfibre cloth for fingerprints, then soapy water once a week.

The lift-top: who it's really for day to day
Only MSFE Table Basse Relevable, lift-top and bidirectional, changes function to fit the need: in the raised position, its lift-top comes close to dining-table height, around 75 cm; in the low position, it drops below the comfortable 45 cm mark. Lift-tops are not the only route to hidden space, as our page on the MDF coffee table with storage makes clear.

The lift-top model's hidden compartment, a real plus
Unlike Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder and MSFE Table Basse en Travertin, which offer no dedicated storage, MSFE Table Basse Relevable adds a hidden compartment under the lift-top and a clearly visible storage shelf, operated by an improved gas strut. Hidden compartments come in tougher materials too, gathered on our metal coffee table with storage page for rooms that take real punishment.
This storage stays accessible only with the top lowered: in the raised position for a meal, you need to bring MSFE Table Basse Relevable back down to reach the hidden compartment.

The round tempered-glass top, a choice suited to small spaces
The round shape of the tempered-glass top on Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder limits the corners that catch on foot traffic, an advantage compared with the rectangular top of MSFE Table Basse en Travertin or the lift-top of MSFE Table Basse Relevable, which take up more visual floor space. Round tops save space, and a few of them stay very affordable, as our cheap coffee table with storage page proves.
In exchange, the round top of Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder holds fewer flat items than a rectangular top like MSFE Table Basse en Travertin's.

The travertine effect, a mineral look without the weight of stone
A genuine travertine slab is heavy, unlike the spacious, functional top of MSFE Table Basse en Travertin, made from durable MDF to imitate this mineral look on a noticeably lighter base than Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder in tempered glass or MSFE Table Basse Relevable in wood. Lighter imitations exist across other ranges, notably in the COSTWAY coffee tables catalogue, where mineral looks meet easier handling.
This trade-off doesn't match the touch of real natural stone, but it's enough for most living rooms after this mineral feel.

Three tables, three very different upkeep budgets
The tempered-glass top of Table Basse de Salon avec Plateau en Verre Table d'appoint Ronde Moder needs the most frequent attention, an almost daily wipe with a microfibre cloth. The MDF travertine top of MSFE Table Basse en Travertin tolerates a less frequent routine. Upkeep habits vary by brand as much as by material, something the DecoInParis coffee tables page shows across its own finishes.
The wooden lift-top of MSFE Table Basse Relevable sits between the two: its mixed use, as coffee table and occasional dining table, calls for cleaning after every meal.

Worth knowing
Frequently asked questions
Does the MSFE tempered-glass top hold up well to everyday knocks?
Better than ordinary glass, yes; it withstands a crockery impact without cracking. A fine scratch can still appear over time if a hard object is regularly dragged across it without care.
Does the MSFE tempered-glass top scratch if keys are placed directly on it?
It's best avoided: a hard object dragged rather than set down flat will eventually mark the surface, even on impact-resistant tempered glass.
Is the travertine effect on the MSFE table really natural stone?
No, it's an MDF top with a finish that imitates travertine, much lighter and less costly than carrying a genuine, heavy slab of natural stone into your home.
Is the lift-top mechanism hard to operate alone at home?
The gas strut makes the movement noticeably easier, but you should always clear the top before raising it, as with any moving mechanism of this kind installed in your home.
Which MSFE table should you choose for a small living room?
The round tempered-glass model remains the most compact of the three, particularly suited to a reading corner or a student studio flat short on space.
Do these three MSFE tables suit occasional desk use?
Only the lift-top table really plays that role once raised to the high position; the other two remain fixed coffee tables without that extra desk function.
